Message from the Chairman:

Based on the discussion at last week's Executive Committee meeting, we've decided that due to the economic climate facing our industry, we believe that the best course of action is to cancel the 2009 PhAME competition.

We've treasured the experience. It's been an honor to work beside all of you on this good cause over the last 11 years. Together, we have truly helped create a better informed and healthier world by highlighting the best examples of pharmaceutical marketing excellence that have touched millions of lives.

Congratulations to all who have worked on these awards and participated with your great work, and Thank You.

A Message from the Executive Committee:

Welcome to the 2009 PhAME Awards Web site. The Pharmaceutical Advertising and Marketing Excellence (PhAME) Awards recognize creative excellence, results and innovation in strategies, media and integrated campaigns.

Since their introduction 11 years ago, the PhAME Awards have been enthusiastically embraced by both the pharmaceutical industry and its agency partners because the criteria for the awards perfectly match their shared goal: marketing campaigns that exemplify both outstanding creativity and achievement of identified business results. We recognize the important role pharmaceutical marketing has in providing critical information and honor advertisements each year that have an impact on patients' lives.

Awards cover the vast spectrum of marketing campaigns: from traditional TV and print campaigns to cutting-edge interactive and relationship marketing initiatives to multicultural campaigns and programs oriented to public health.

2008 Results:

Nearly 200 guests attended the 2008 PhAME Awards held at the Solomon Guggenheim Museum and hosted by The Early Show's news anchor Russ Mitchell on May 1, 2008. Awards were handed out in 14 competition categories, including Best Branded Television Advertisement and Best Interactive Ad.

The Public Health Award, which is presented annually to the consumer marketing advertisement that can demonstrate the most positive impact on patient/public health was awarded to Abbott Laboratories for its "I Stand With Magic" campaign developed by Ogilvy and Mather.
